Spring 2013

Finally, winter is officially over! The Southeast Asian Coalition has some great programs going on at the moment, and we are also working on upcoming events such as the 10th Asian Festival.

We are working hard to make this our greatest event yet! The Asian Festival will celebrate it's 10th anniversary and you can expect a lot of great performances from the various Asian cultures in Worcester. And to close the festival, there will be a Lion Dance competition!

Last Saturday our youth members of Youth Effect went on a field trip to Boston's Chinatown to learn more about it's history. The walking tour in Chinatown was done in collaboration with A-VOYCE, the asian youth development program for youth from Greater Boston.

The field trip was a great success, our youth got the chance to learn more about Chinatown and it's place in Boston's history. And to end the field trip they all went for Dim Sum, since no visit to Chinatown is complete without experiencing the happy chaos in a Dim Sum restaurant!

For more pictures of the Chinatown field trip, please visit the Youth Effect page.

One of our new programs has been the yoga class on Thursday afternoon from 11.30 am to 12.30 am.

As part of improving wellness in our community the Coalition was able to partner with the Worcester Kundalini Yoga to have classes at the center. Please join our teacher Nam Nirmal for a wonderful way to energize your day!

For more information on the yoga class at the center, please call: 508-791-4373.
